At our annual general meeting in 2024, a motion to formally change our name from Longbeach PLACE was put forward. The change would better reflect our purpose and the services we provide. It passed with unanimous support from staff, the Governance Committee, and our community. Longbeach Learning and Activity Centre was born.
You belong at Longbeach Learning and Activity Centre—a welcoming, community‑led space where you can meet neighbours, share skills, and feel at home. Whether you’re new to the area or a long‑time local, you’ll find friendly faces, social activities, and support groups that make it easy to connect. Drop in for a chat, join a group, or try something new at your own pace. We celebrate diversity and create inclusive spaces for all ages and backgrounds. From a cuppa and conversation to a regular activity that becomes a highlight of your week, this is a place where everyday connections grow into a strong sense of belonging.
Learning at Longbeach is practical, creative, and relevant. Choose from courses and workshops that build skills and confidence—digital know‑how, language and literacy, creative arts, health and wellbeing, job‑readiness, and more. Programs are delivered by qualified facilitators alongside local volunteers who bring lived experience and community insight. Classes are friendly, small enough for personal support, and designed so you can start where you are. Whether you’re returning to study, exploring a new interest, or upgrading skills for work, you’ll learn in a supportive environment that values curiosity, achievement, and fun. It’s lifelong learning centred around you.

Longbeach Learning and Activity Centre gratefully acknowledges support and funding from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), the Neighbourhood House Coordination Program (NHCP), the City of Kingston, and Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE). In the past, we have also received funding from philanthropic organisations and government grants.
